Stage 1 Eve Festival

On this day, Suemori, after finishing work, will take the stage alone at the used record store Engels Girl.
I heard that recently, Suemori has been spending time between work recording songs with guitarist Hiroki Komazawa.
Secretly, I’m looking forward to hearing the results this time.
Stage 2: Day Session

Yuka Kawabe collects the languages of the Asian and Mediterranean countries she visits like treasures, and expresses them through the words of those countries and beautiful melodies.
She sings and plays songs from Japan, Tibet, the Eastern Mediterranean, Ireland, and more, crossing national borders.
In addition to Japan, she also performs in countries like the Netherlands and Belgium. The damnyen is a traditional instrument from Bhutan.
Enjoy the simple, rustic sounds of the instrument along with her singing.
Stage 3: Evening Gathering

When you think of kamishibai, you usually imagine something for kids, but this time it’s a kamishibai that adults can enjoy too. The theme is ‘Yuki-onna’ (Snow Woman).
The illustrations are by paper-cut artist Shu Koide. The kamishibai performer, Osenbe, majored in psychology in college. While working as a counselor in elder care, he wanted to make everyone smile, so he became an apprentice to kamishibai master Yassan.
He now runs a candy shop in Mitaka while also performing as a traveling kamishibai artist.
Providing the musical backing for the kamishibai are Hideki Suemori from the Namaste Band and violinist Sayu Yamamoto. Yamamoto is known for her immersive performances, including for special effects works like Kamen Rider and Godzilla.

PROFILE
Makiko Nakano
Born in Sendai in 1968. Since 1988, she has been running the independent, non-organized project ‘Hige to Shippo Kikaku’ focusing on coexistence between humans and animals.
She works on issues related to animal testing, wildlife, and dogs and cats. Graduated from the Azabu University School of Veterinary Medicine and became a veterinarian.
After working as a researcher for ALIVE (Earthlife Conference) and staff at IFAW (International Fund for Animal Welfare) Japan office, she now runs the house-call specialized ‘Hige to Shippo Mobile Animal Hospital’ out of an apartment.
